The Wine Tasting Shop, Balham

Do you judge a book by its cover? Consider Catch-22, The Beach and The Great Gatsby.
Can you apply the same adage to wine?

We are looking at our best-selling Les Cepages Oublies, a winning blend of Gros Manseng and Colombard grapes- both widely grown in the Cotes de Gascogne, near Toulouse.
What is it showing? The soft green label has an old-fashioned look but the wine is anything but.
It is fresh, fruity, up-to-the-minute, and totally drinkable- at £8.50 a bottle.

At The Wine Tasting Shop, our familiarity with the style and story of each wine, and our "hands on" approach to customer service make us a popular destination for the purchase of gift wines.

Whether it's a Christening gift made for ageing in the cellar, a celebratory bottle of champagne, or just a nice gesture on a budget, we've loads of choices. And, if you've chosen a gift wine with us before, you know we are always happy to take that extra time & find the perfect bottle for any gift occasion.

Dinner with Dog Point Vineyard Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Inspired by a recent clip of Jamie Oliver knee deep in a herb garden and cooking fresh British asparagus on a tiny transportable hob, I decided last night's dinner was to be a culinary adventure - attempting to duplicate both his recipe and his sense of experimental nonchalance (whilst still doing everything in my power to make sure the result was perfect, and pouting when things went awry).

25th April

We are pleased to announce that we've been collaborating with the creative culinary team at nearby restaurant, Harrison's.

On the 30th of May, we'll be bringing our creations to you in a Food & Wine Pairing Event, held at Harrison's.

The event will feature 8 of our fabulous boutique wines, paired with 8 different tasting portions of Harrison's modern and exciting cuisine.

Several of the dishes have been designed to pair uniquely with specific wines from The Wine Tasting Shop, whilst other dishes are Harrison's top recommended dishes, and we've chosen the wine to compliment them.

New in the shop this week!

Three fresh Sancerre wines by Paul Prieur & Fils.

20 hectares of Pinot Noir(5 ha) and Sauvignon Blanc(15 ha), from which winemaker, Didier Prieur, makes an elegant mineral Sancerre Blanc, a fresh dry Rosé of 100% Pinot Noir, and a Rouge with super fine tannin and refreshing cherry fruit - perfect lightly chilled for a Spring picnic!

Soils are mostly limestone, known as "terres blanches", and vines average 35 years old.

Sustainable vineyard practices, and wines of balance, verve, and freshness!
